Al-Hadith – A Timeless Guide to the Prophetic Sunnah
Al-Hadith is more than a book — it is a doorway into the living tradition of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Rooted in the celebrated classical compilation Mishkat al-Masabih, this work brings together the original Arabic text and a clear, faithful English rendering, so that readers can engage with the Sunnah in both its authentic voice and its accessible meaning. As a complete Hadith book, it is thoughtfully crafted for deep, unhurried study — the kind that changes how you think, act, and worship.
Why This Book Matters Today
At a time when so many are searching for grounded, trustworthy Islamic knowledge, Al-Hadith offers something rare: clarity without compromise. Its thematic arrangement of narrations — spanning belief, worship, and the conduct of daily life — makes it genuinely readable, not just referenceable. Drawing directly from the foundational collections of Imam al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim, it places you in conversation with more than a millennium of Hadith scholarship, presented accessibly for the English-speaking reader.
What Makes This Book Unique
- Complete Arabic text alongside a clear, faithful English translation
- Explanatory notes that illuminate meaning without burying the reader in technicality
- Topic-based structure that makes navigation and focused study genuinely effortless
- A balanced presentation firmly rooted in classical scholarly tradition
- Equally suited to personal reflection and structured, formal learning
Key Themes and Knowledge Inside
This edition moves through the essential landscape of Islamic life — faith and its foundations, the acts of worship that draw us closer to Allah, the refinement of character, and our responsibilities to one another. Along the way, it gently introduces the reader to key principles of Ilm al-Hadith: how narrations are preserved and authenticated through Isnād and Matn, and how Hadith and the Qur’an work together as the twin sources of guidance for every Muslim.
Author’s Scholarly Authority
The original compilation by Imam al-Tabrizi was itself a refinement of the earlier Masabih al-Sunnah by Imam al-Baghawi — a work that drew the praise and engagement of luminaries such as Imam al-Nawawi. This English edition, translated and commented upon by Maulana Fazlul Karim, is widely appreciated for the clarity and care it brings to the text. It respects the depth of the original while making its wisdom genuinely approachable — so that scholarly context is never lost, but never becomes a barrier either.

Reference from the Qur’an & Sunnah
Allah reminds us:
“Indeed in the Messenger of Allâh (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allâh and the Last Day, and remembers Allâh much.” (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:21)
Abu ‘Atiyyah, a freed slave of us, said:
Malik b. al-Huwairith came to this place of prayer of ours, and the iqamah for prayer was called. We said to him: Come forward and lead the prayer. He said to us: Put one of your own men forward to lead you in prayer. I heard the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) say: If anyone visits people, he should not lead them in prayer, but some person of them should lead the prayer. (Sunan Abi Dawud 596)
It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)said: If there are three people, let one of them lead the others in prayer, and the one who has the most right to lead the prayer is the one who recites(knows) the most (Qur’an). (Sunan an-Nasa’i 840)
Abu Hurairah reported the prophet (ﷺ) as saying:
When one of you leads the people in prayer, he should be brief, for among them are the weak, the sick, and the aged. But when one of you prays by himself, he may pray as long as he likes. (Sunan Abi Dawud 794)
Abdullah bin Masud said:
It is from the Sunnah to say the Tashahhud quietly. (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 291)
